The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality is pleased to announce that work is underway in Mlungisi for the rehabilitation and maintenance of surfaced roads (Phase 2). This construction project, which spans 2.3 kilometers, is expected to be completed within 8 months.
The project entails the upgrading of 8 streets, which will receive new block-paved road surfaces, significantly improving the overall road infrastructure in the area. The streets undergoing rehabilitation are:
1. Dalamba Street (650m)
2. Business Road (350m)
3. Western Street (250m)
4. Knysna Street (210m)
5. Allan Ridge Street (270m)
6. Bonnivale Street (330m)
7. Hopefield Street (220m)
8. Gobabis Street (50m)
The roads in Mlungisi had deteriorated due to years of heavy traffic, inadequate drainage, and lack of maintenance. The municipality recognizes the importance of investing in road infrastructure to support the economic growth and development of the area.
The rehabilitation of these roads is crucial for the community, as it will improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. Furthermore, the upgraded roads will also facilitate easier access to local businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities.
