After multiple faults were detected on the Ezibeleni transformer, leading to a long wait, a new 5 MV was acquired for the area. This transformer was delivered on 14 July and was placed at the substation.

Having travelled about 800 kilometers, the transformer was allowed enouch time for oil settlement. The Municipality is ensuring that this process is done thoroughly to ensure that communities experience this investment to the maximum.

In the last few days tests were run to ascertain compatibilty and results proved that programming is required. The Manufacturer is expected to deliver the communication (NECR)to to enable compatibility.

When this is done final tests on the transformer and protection will be undertaken. While there is pressure to ensure reliable electricity supply for the community, it is equally vital to ensure the installation process is diligently done.
