FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Enoch Mgijima Municipality today condemned in the strongest terms the recent deliberate vandalism of electricity poles in Molteno. The destructive act has placed the safety and well-being of local residents at serious risk and disrupted critical services to the community.

The incident has been formally reported to the South African Police Service for investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

In response to the damage, the municipality may need to temporarily isolate sections of the electricity line to allow for safe repairs. This may result in short-term power outages in affected areas of Molteno. Residents are encouraged to:

-Follow official updates via the municipality’s Facebook page and with ward councilors.

– Report suspicious activity directly to the SAPS or the municipal hotline at 045 807 2606.

– Take necessary precautions during outages — use candles safely and keep emergency kits ready.

-End-
