The EMLM Mayoral Cup is set to take place on March 15, 2026, promising a day filled with thrilling sportsmanship and community camaraderie. 

The event will run from 08:00 to 18:00 at the Thobi Kula Indoor Sport Center and Sandringham Grounds, bringing together approximately 300 participants competing across nine exciting sporting codes. 

Participating sports include Soccer, Netball, Rugby, Table Tennis, Boxing, Karate, Volleyball, Chess, and Cricket. Soccer and Netball matches will be hosted at Sandringham Grounds, Cricket and Inkwanca High School, while all other sports will be held at the Thobi Kula Indoor Sport Center. 

The day will culminate with a grand Prize Giving Ceremony at Thobi Kula, celebrating the achievements and efforts of all athletes.

This final stage comes after teams from different Wards played in the elimination stages, where the best teams from the Municipal clusters (Whittlesea, former Tsolwana, former Inkwanca, former Lukhanji and Bholothwa clusters). Winners will represent Enoch Mgijima Municipality when the district Mayor’s cup, scheduled for June this year, is staged.

The Mayors Cup is aimed at unearthing raw talent and encourage youth participation. The Municipality is hosting the tournament in conjunction with the Enoch Mgijima Sports Council who have over the years ably held such events.
