Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) is taking decisive steps to protect its assets following an incident in which three municipal vehicles were attached by the Sheriff earlier today. In order to protect municipal assets, a specialised team has been assigned to prevent the further seizure of municipal vehicles
This intervention comes as a result of an ongoing contractual dispute inherited from the former Lukhanji Municipality and a contractor. In the interest of protecting public funds, EMLM previously called for an inquest into the matter to ensure all obligations are thoroughly reviewed before making any payments.
The Municipality has been granted a 30-day period to review the case. Accordingly, legal representatives have already been tasked to:
– Apply for a review of the matter.
– Pursue the recovery of the three vehicles that have been confiscated.
EMLM assures residents and stakeholders that all necessary measures are being employed to maintain reliable and consistent municipal services throughout this process.
